HISTORY OF BRASSERIE DES RAPIDES
On June 1st, 31 years ago, the story of Brasserie Des Rapides began.
From the time BDR first opened its doors to this day, the Macri family has been welcoming families and friends, and creating many memories over the years.
Sam Macri and his wife Maria founded the Brasserie des Rapides in 1994. Although it was established as a brasserie, Sam's vision was to create a restaurant where customers could enjoy quality meals while having their favorite drink. He was committed to preparing delicious meals using the freshest ingredients. Sam's passion for Italian cuisine influenced the many tasty dishes he and his wife would prepare. His dishes were always a labor of love. To this day, some of Sam's signature dishes, such as his classic Penne Arrabbiata, his Mussels Marinara and his famous Chicken Wings, are still on the BDR menu.
Sam was well- known for his involvement in the community and for his continued support for local causes. He was actively involved with the local sport teams, churches, foundations and charities. Sam would organize events at the BDR, such as Spaghetti-o-thons, to raise funds for causes that he cared about.
Since Sam's passing in1994, Maria and her sons have carried on the tradition of creating good quality dishes and giving back to the community. Most days you can find the Macri family at the BDR preparing their signature dishes and managing the family business.
